OSU Design Network Gathering: A Carol Caughey Tribute

Join the OSU Design Network as they celebrate and pay tribute to professor emeritus, student success champion and mentor Carol Caughey.

All design students and alumni are invited to this unique social event to mingle with Carol herself, along with others in the field.

During this evening of networking, you’ll also get a chance to learn more about the Carol Caughey Scholarship — including your role in supporting the fund’s future and hearing from students, like 2022 scholarship recipient Becca Ziegler:

“Studying abroad in Florence, Italy, for a semester was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever been a part of. I learned so much about myself and my goals for my career from having the opportunity to live in a country and culture other than what I am used to in the United States. The Carol Caughey Scholarship was essential in helping me to financially afford studying abroad. It is a gift that I am extremely grateful to have received — its value to my experience does not go unappreciated.”

About Carol Caughey
After briefly working in political science, Carol transitioned to studying interior design. She began her career by working as an interior designer in several firms, and then shifted to teaching interior design at Oregon State University.

During Carol’s 21 years at OSU, she started the Interior Design Program, guided field trips, led study tours in Europe, utilized actual buildings and homes for student design projects and encouraged students to enter national student design competitions (in which they were very successful.)

Following her retirement in 2011, Carol and her husband moved to Portland. They continue to enjoy travel, volunteering at the Portland Art Museum and watching their grandchildren grow.
